Lendbit Finance

Cross-chain lending powered by Chainlink CCIP

The problem Lendbit Finance solves

DeFi lending today is fragmented across chains — users are often forced to bridge assets, manage separate positions, or chase yields manually. This complexity introduces risk, gas inefficiency, and missed opportunities.

Existing protocols lock users into a single-chain experience, limit capital efficiency, and lack the flexibility that many lenders and borrowers need.

What Lendbit Enables

  1. Borrow on one chain, post collateral on another — no manual bridging needed.

  2. Supply liquidity from any chain — participate in lending pools without chain-hopping.

  3. Create custom lending pools or peer-to-peer offers — define terms, whitelist counterparties, and build your own markets.

  4. Unify fragmented lending opportunities — Lendbit consolidates lending actions into a seamless UX, powered by Chainlink CCIP.

  5. Safer cross-chain interactions — messages are verified and delivered securely via Chainlink’s decentralized network, reducing exploit risk.

Use Cases

  • A user on Optimism can borrow stablecoins against ETH collateral locked on Base.

  • A liquidity provider on Arbitrum can earn APY from a shared lending pool without needing to bridge assets to Base.

  • Builders can extend Lendbit to create mini-apps or frontends on new chains — with one source of liquidity.

  • An Individual/Community/Protocol/DAO treasury sets up a custom lending pool with fixed terms and selected counterparties — allowing it to lend stablecoins only to KYC’d partners across different chains, while earning yield with full control over collateral requirements and interest rates.

Challenges we ran into

Building a true cross-chain lending experience introduced several challenges:

1. Maintaining a Global Lending State Across Chains
One major hurdle was coordinating state between chains — ensuring borrow limits, collateral ratios, and pool liquidity were accurately reflected regardless of origin chain. Traditional approaches like event listening or polling were either too slow or insecure.

Solution:
We used **Chainlink CCIP ** to route intent and synchronize actions back to a central “hub” chain (Base), where the actual lending logic and vault state lives. This gave us atomic, verifiable messaging between chains while keeping computation unified.

2. Cross-Chain Transaction Visibility
Displaying transaction history across chains — especially when they’re routed through CCIP and confirmed asynchronously — made logging and UX difficult.

Solution:
We built a transaction history module that listens to CCIP events and maps cross-chain actions into unified, user-friendly logs, with labels like "Collateral Supplied from OP → Borrowed on Base."
