The problem INQUEST solves
- Women in academia and research face challenges in finding collaborators and accessing relevant research due to underrepresentation in certain fields.
- Women researchers often have limited time due to juggling multiple responsibilities, including work, family, and unpaid care work.
- Women-authored research papers receive fewer citations than those authored by men, which impacts their recognition and career advancement.
- Women researchers may face added pressure to produce accurate research due to gender bias, which impacts their confidence and productivity
Challenges we ran into
- The implementation of the collaborative workspaces was the project's main obstacle. It was challenging to create workplaces and have several individuals join them using codes.
- It was difficult to integrate several third-party libraries and APIs into the project because of deprecated versions and compatibility problems.
- It was a challenging undertaking to include capabilities like the in-browser PDF viewer and PDF annotator. Additionally, we had to create a unique model for summarising PDFs.
