The problem Agromate solves

As the name suggests, AGROMATE is a friend of agriculture or a true companion of farmers, which can be totally relied upon in times of any crisis faced by them. Our group has built a model using ML and DL that provides early detection of plant diseases. The user would be required to upload an image of the leaf of the plant using a camera and our model will predict the name of the disease and the correct pesticide that should be applied, so as to prevent further damage to the crop.

Our model will be able to suggest the most suitable fertilizer that should be used for a particular crop to ensure a healthy harvest. The user needs to enter the values of n,p,k in the soil and the respective suggestions would be
provided to the farmer by our model.

Our model also provides suggestions about the best-grown crop for a particular area, by taking into consideration various parameters like water content, mineral composition, amount of salinity present in the soil etc.

To solve the problem of lack of communication between the farmers and landlords, we have created a user interface that will enable the farmer to avail the facility of a live video chat with the landlords and fellow farmers. We have also provided a chat application where the farmers can form self-help groups for live chatting, discussing their problems, and finding suitable solutions for the same. This would not only help them but also help their fellow farmers as well in times of crisis. The farmers and landlords just have to register themselves within the application and log in through the credentials provided.

We have also provided the farmers with an E-Commerce platform where they can even sell their produce directly to the consumers through a payment gateway and earn huge profits. The customers can avail farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, and greens at their doorstep with the aid of our software.

Challenges we ran into

In this era of advancements and development, we are growing really fast and coming up with new technologies that further aid in making our lives simpler and easier. But, Indian agriculture is still being plagued by several problems. These problems often go unnoticed in the entire process of extracting food and harvesting crops. The main problems faced by Indian agriculture are:

1. Uncertainty in water supply
2. Fragmentation of land holdings
3. Lack of knowledge about which crop is being the best suited to be grown in a particular area
4. Lack of knowledge about which fertilizer should be used for a particular crop
5. Crop loss and destruction caused by the invasion of insects, pests etc.
6. Lack of a communication medium with the landlords and fellow farmers.
