Transport Monitor

Effective design, engineering, delivery of Ethereum, IPFS and Web3 tools aided solution for vehicles and citizens to make roads safer and better for everyone using predictive analytics and automation.

The problem Transport Monitor solves

Transport Monitor is an analytics and incident management platform for citizens, police officers, drivers to report and manage incidents, detect and prevent accidents on web, mobile in a secure and simplified manner using Ethereum, IPFS and Web3 tools aided solution. Features:

360 degrees access: Command and control centers can manage the complete lifecycle of incident reporting, overall status, enable early stage prevention of accidents and road safety counseling, management of workforce at the incident site.

Incident Dashboard: Manage and track your incidents as a citizen along with sharing reviews and comments. Incident reporting, severity analytics and sentiment analysis using social media data for early stage detection and prevention of incidents.

Real Time Analytics, alerts, streaming: Analytics of the incidents with sentiment analysis, live incident reporting. road safety eco-system. Health summary of the police staff, scheduling the staff. Reducing misinformation.

Cross chain interoperability in communication, payments, analytics with Axelar using Polywrap.

Community Benefits:

Ministry of Road and Transportation: Endeavor to change the scenario by use of cross chain interoperability in communication with Axelar and Polywrap to make driving safer and monitored for drivers, authorities, 3rd parties. Our solution wish to provide intelligent feedback about drive quality, help analyze past incidents, as well as predict future incidents.

Citizens and Cab aggregators: Reduction in the number of road accidents.

Insurance Companies: Aggregated/ anonymized driving data, incident data will be helpful to car insurance companies.

OEMs and Dealerships: Vehicle diagnostics and in-car service consumption will be helpful for OEMs and Dealerships.

Smart Cities Policy Makers/ Government: Real time traffic flow, incident alert, parking data will be enable safer roads.

Advertisers: Customers/driver demographics are available.

Fleet customers: fleet performance.

Challenges we ran into

We faced multiple challenges while working on the project:

  1. Deployment challenges and learning Hyperspace testnet. The documentation and Filecoin team has been helpful in enabling us to learn and deploy on Filecoin Virtual Machine. Wallaby had issues, which are no longer there at Hyperspace testnet.
  2. Report generation using htmltopdf library on centralized server instance: We had experience using PV (paravirtual) based AWS classic instance. We were required to convert PV (paravirtual) instance to an HVM (Hardware Virtual Machine) and convert it from a classic instance to a VPC instance. We faced a number of challenges in converting our PV instance to an HVM instance as our instance was not reachable via ssh. We arrived at a good conclusion on the issue by doing the following: Created an ami of current classic instance. Launch a new instance from this ami after shifting to vpc as the base with new VPC security groups and updated volume. The newly launched instance is working and we are able to ssh and migrated the code base. We purchased the developer support plan using AWS credits and have being shared key pointers on converting our VPC based PV instance to a VPC based HVM instance. This challenge would not have been solved without the support of AWS team. Finally, our htmltopdf library is now working. We also had to study the documentation of using nginx and how we can run it with our VPC based instance. We also learnt how to use public subnets and private subnets.
  3. The insurance providers have to manually upload the incident and vehicle data to create the insurance based NFT. It is not a problem for a small set of vehicles where we can use csv to json conversion using open source libraries like phpexcel in ethercalc but problematic for larger number of vehicles. At this juncture, the insurance providers have to manually connect their wallet and create the insurance claim NFT.
