The problem TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SYSTEM solves

Nowadays congestion in traffic is a serious issue. The traffic congestion can also be caused by large Red-light delays, etc. The delay of respective light is hard coded in the traffic light and it is not dependent on traffic. Due to traffic congestion, there is a loss in productivity from workers, trade opportunities are lost, delivery gets delayed, and thereby the costs goes on increasing. Also, sometimes because of heavy traffic, emergency vehicles remain stuck in the traffic and hence cannot reach their destination in time. Therefore, for simulating and optimizing traffic control to better accommodate this increasing demand is arises. The system tries to reduce possibilities of traffic jams, caused by traffic lights based on vehicle count, it defines different ranges for traffic light delays and updates those accordingly.
The purpose of this project is to increase awareness of people regarding obeying of traffic rules, to reduce the traffic
congestion, to reduce the delay for emergency vehicles to reach their destination and to reduce number of accidents due to
violation of traffic rules which may sometimes prove to be fatal.

Challenges we ran into

Due to current pandemic situation, we weren't able to impliment our project into a hardware oriented physical prototype. We used pygame graphics instead of real LED system to display the traffic signals of roads in two directions.
