Digital marketplaces have made making money online incredibly easy, while providing economic freedom to people who didn’t fit into the 9-5 window. Gumroad is one of the biggest platforms today to build a online business for digital goods. We are big fans of what they have done, and hope to stand on the shoulders of these giants.
Our project is a reimagination of what Gumroad, or any digital marketplace can be.
Solved problems:
Platform risk:
Creators have no control over the platform they create on. Which is crazy considering their entire livelihood depends on it. Youtube is a great example of this. Our project is essentially a protocol, so anyone can build an interface, connect and interact with it. Exiting a platform is really simple and not damaging to one's career. Creators should not be bound to the platform they built their following on.
Permissionless:
No personal information, one click login.
Trusted third parties:
We require no trusted third party, content delivery is automatic, detereministic and decentralized. We use chainlink oracles to securely deliver content to our buyers.
Don't censor, curate:
We believe that a platform should be able to censor but curate, and if a creator disagrees with their content policies, they should be able to exit without jeopardizing their online presence. This is possible since our project is just a protocol, the interface is completely decoupled from the protocol.
Debugging smart contracts was a nightmare.
Lack of LINK Liquidity pool and lack of reliable oracles on MATIC Mumbai.
Often ran out of testnet matic to test our contracts.
