PoT (Proof of Taste)
Submit things that you find funny, find out if you're actually funny.
The problem PoT (Proof of Taste) solves
In this age of brainrot, too many people believe they are actually funny, in reality their sense of humor is broken, they got cringe taste. We at PoT want to create an objective to way to determine if you have taste. Taste is a valued cultural commodity, look at the prominence of letterboxed or beli; people are desperate to show that they have taste, yet there is nothing to determine objective comedic taste, people send funny content to their friends, oft with swkewed responses, due to the inherent nature of the online echo chamber. PoT is able to show the public what is funny in the moment, via the top 5 content submissions per day. Submissions are saved, users are able ot submit one piece of content everyday, and have their submissions linked to their public address, thus showing the long-run trends of people's comedic tastes, and this coupled with highest rankings acheived for each submission can lead to a curated collection overtime that can objectively determine taste.
User Interaction and Data Flow
Users will first start by submitting a link to content (instagram or TikTok) and then using those two independent endpoints for voting and submitting. From there on, people can vote, on two options they are presented with, they can then choose what they find to be the funnier option /less unfunny option. This will lead to a bracket ranking system, leading to a clear universal ranking.
All data, specifically links provided and daily rank, will be held on chain, associated to the account's address. From there you can look at public addresses, and then you can look at a storied collection, and see how one's "taste" has changed/evolved.
Key differentiators and uniqueness of the project
Our closest comparable could be Letterboxed or Beli; and the thing that those to are fundamentally built upon, which Taste is built upon, is the shift in cultural value of curation; we have transcended past the era of content creation being king, and have pivoted to an era where people want to show off their taste, be it in movies or food; this provides an avenue for that with specific focus on comedy; the irony our app is predicated on is what will draw people in, subjective format being ranked objectively. History, much like Belinand Letterboxed is available on chain, with the subsequent global ranking attached to each daily transaction, thus one could literally see the trends associated with their taste over time. This can also provide an interesting data opportunity, because in an era of ekes and viral marketing, to understand what each user thinks is funny, which can inform both generalized and targeted marketing.
