Hunt, Trade and Play on the go!

The problem PalGo solves

PalGo is a massively multiplayer real word 2.5D mobile explorer game that allows one to interact with his surroundings to earn tokens.
We were inspired by the hit 2016 game PokemonGo! to build PalGo.

PalGo solves the problem of user onboarding on web3 by providing a fun to play game which rewards its users with tokens.
Users are incentivised to find the real life locations to earn tokens which they can convert to ETH and vice versa. Users earn these in game tokens by battling in arenas or finding orbs all around the world.

The locations in the world of PalGo aka Earth are all based on real time live locations of landmarks, restaurants parks and other points of interest.
We incentivise the restaurant/landmark owners by making their shops the HOT zone which would attract more footfall. This in turn incentivises the restaurant owner to provide more offers which we can pass on to the user.
For eg: If someone wins the arena battle at their location they will get a 10% of coupon.
This creates a feedback look bringing both the retail and commercial audience to web3.

Palgo has both mobile and web support. Though mobile is the preferred medium of play.
We have also included a go to joystick for demo purposes in this hackathon which will be removed in the final product.
Palgo has data on over 3500 real life locations in Bengaluru and New York that are updated manually on a weekly basis.
The restaurant or point of interest owners can get in touch with us if they want to provide an incentive for users and we can convert their location to a temporary hot zone. The funds secured by this are converted to incentives for the user and a feedback loop is estabilished.
Palgo also comes in the form of a telegram mini app which empowers the already massive web3 population on them.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Viem integration with scaffold-eth due to legacy peer dependencies.
  2. Executing base transactions due to lack of funds.
  3. Scraping the web and finding relevant geo APIs to get points of interest across the world.
  4. Integration with Okto due to bugs regarding multithreading in their SDK.
  5. Real life geographical testing. While testing the app outdoors one of our developers got chased by a dog.
