The problem InsightED solves
Teachers often know when students get a question wrong, but it can be difficult to identify why they are struggling and which concepts need reinforcement.
InsightED uses AI to generate lessons and quizzes based on the teacher’s subject, topic, student level, and language. It then analyses student responses to identify common misconceptions and learning gaps, allowing teachers to understand which concepts students are struggling with quickly.
Instead of relying only on quiz scores, InsightED turns student responses into actionable insights that help teachers decide what to reteach and where intervention is needed most. This makes the process of identifying learning gaps faster, more targeted, and more personalised for students.
Challenges we ran into
One of our main challenges was connecting the AI-generated quiz system, backend, and student-facing interface so that questions could be generated, retrieved, and displayed correctly.
During testing, we encountered issues where changes made by different team members could affect the existing flow, making it important to carefully test the system after integrating each component. We also had to troubleshoot the connection between the deployed frontend and backend and verify that generated questions and student answers were being handled correctly.
We overcame these challenges by working with separate Git branches, testing each feature independently, and gradually integrating changes into the main project. We also tested the complete user flow from lesson generation → quiz generation → student quiz → answer submission → misconception analysis to ensure the different components worked together as intended.
