The problem MESA solves

Even though anyone can be an independent music creator today, record labels still provide crucial administrative infrastructure for artists. Without these capabilities, artists often fail to capture the value that they’ve created. We believe that web3 will supercharge artistic entrepreneurial processes. Todays´artists and their teams operate like high-performance athletes, not wreckless rock stars.

67% of artists don't have an established process for discussing and establishing ownership splits; 69% of artists have lost money due to missing out on rightful ownership or credit in a song. Proper administration is crucial for a successful music career, yet it is not adequately addressed by current software offerings, leaving artists to navigate these complexities largely on their own. The newly created Web3 economies bring it´s own set of challenges that MESA intends to help navigate.

MESA is focusing on helping music artists and their teams safely and confidently onboard their IP onchain, bridging between traditional music split contracts into smart contract infrastructure. As a 2 way door, both intellectual property law needs to be mapped out into smart contract architecture and at the same time, Web 3 native mechanics (ie: auctions) need to be interpreted and considered in written form. Our goal is to map out the types of contributions made by people in collaborative creation and finding it´s correct standing in hybrid systems.

Currently, applications do not allow for financial admin products to be integrated into the workflow of creative teams streamlined inside production processes, creating a lack of transparency, and the need for bigger teams and unnecessary costs. Web 3 modularity and automation allow for new tools to insert themselves into the job-to-be-done framework in creative processes bringing speed, efficiency, and increased value.

Challenges I ran into

The hardest part of the 12-month process leading up until now has been earning the respect and interest of developers whom we know, to understand, value, and jump onboard to build with us. We had to push forward all through last year prototyping and learning about software development while simultaneously building MESA as an organization with a clear mission and real foundations.

Currently, MESA is working with 2 senior engineers, Sweetman( Based in Colombia) and Kevin Neaton (US), and one junior engineer, Mase Raika (Japan).
