Where Every Eco Action Counts.
The problem EcoPulse solves
Ecopulse solves the growing problem of environmental injustice being hidden from the public, especially among youth who lack access to simplified, verified environmental information.
Today, Kenyans only learn about land grabbing, deforestation, pollution, or sudden regulation changes after the damage is already done. Government updates are hidden in complex PDFs, community reports get ignored, and young people lack a unified platform to take meaningful action.
Our platform makes these tasks easier and more impactful by:
Simplifying complex government regulations into short, easy summaries
Crowdsourcing reports on pollution, land grabbing, and illegal logging
Verifying incidents using moderators + community voting
Gamifying environmental action through badges, points, and challenges
Educating users with an AI assistant that breaks down policies in seconds
Mobilizing Gen Z to take action through cleanups, petitions, and events
Empowering communities with tools to create and share evidence
Providing dashboards to track impact (trees planted, reports submitted, events attended)
Ecopulse makes environmental monitoring accessible, transparent, and youth-friendly, giving every user the ability to both understand the problem and take action immediately.
Challenges we ran into
Building Ecopulse came with several real challenges:
- Integrating Multiple Features in a Short Time
Balancing crowdsourcing, AI, dashboards, and gamification in one platform was tough.
We overcame this by breaking the workload into clear roles and sprinting on core features first.
- Working With Government Data
Government documents are extremely complicated.
We solved this by using AI summarization to break long policy texts into simple explanations that Gen Z can understand.
- TikTok Integration
Connecting our platform to TikTok’s API for direct uploads was challenging because of permissions and SDK limitations.
We created a temporary workflow while continuing work on full integration.
- Points & Rewards System
Designing a reliable backend for points, badges, and reward thresholds required careful planning.
The team building the backend implemented clear schemas and workflows to ensure consistency.
- Coordinating a Multi-Skill Team
Different members worked on UI, backend, events, regulations, and AI.
We overcame this with daily standups, Trello task boards, and constant communication.
Despite the challenges, we delivered a functional prototype with real impact potential and a clear roadmap for full deployment.
