Eco Certify

Eco Certify

A project for Hack36 created with Nextjs, tailwind, Solidity, truffle, metamask. The smart contracts are deployed on Polygon TestNet and the documents are stored on IPFS via Verbwire APIs.

The problem Eco Certify solves

It is a decentralized application that provides a blockchain-based certification system for eco-friendly products or services.
The dApp allows businesses and individuals to certify their products or services as environmentally friendly by providing proof of their sustainability, ethical sourcing, and responsible production practices.

The certification process is typically based on a set of pre-defined criteria that assess the environmental impact of a product or service.
These criteria may include factors such as energy efficiency, carbon emissions, waste reduction, and sustainable sourcing of raw materials.

To obtain a certification, businesses and individuals need to provide evidence of compliance with these criteria, which is then verified by a decentralized network of validators.
The certification is then recorded on the blockchain, making it tamper-proof and easily verifiable.

Using an Eco-friendly certification dApp can bring several benefits.
Firstly, it can help consumers to make more informed purchasing decisions by providing them with reliable information about the environmental impact of a product or service. This, in turn, can incentivize businesses to adopt more sustainable practices to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly products and services.

Secondly, an Eco-friendly certification dApp can help to promote greater transparency and accountability in the production and supply chain of eco-friendly products and services. By recording the certification on the blockchain, the entire supply chain can be traced and verified, reducing the risk of fraud and ensuring that ethical and sustainable practices are being followed.

Finally, the use of blockchain technology in an Eco-friendly certification dApp ensures that the certification is secure, transparent, and easily accessible.

Challenges we ran into

We spent a lot of time learning the use of Verbwire APIs. We also had to learn a lot in the field of blockchain, and DApps.

Ethereum + Polygon Track

we have deployed the smart contract on polygon, so we covered it too.
