Transforming Lives Through Opportunity: Connecting Daily Wage Workers with Fair Employment.

The problem DailyDoor solves

In India, daily wage laborers constitute a significant portion of the workforce, yet face considerable challenges in securing consistent employment opportunities. This demographic, comprising approximately 35% of all workers, experiences unemployment rates of around 25% on any given day, leading to financial instability and hardship. Despite the existence of solutions such as traditional job agencies and informal networks, limited awareness and privacy concerns hinder effective job matching and communication between customers and laborers. Customers, hesitant to share personal information, face barriers in engaging with laborers, impacting their ability to access job opportunities efficiently. Addressing these challenges requires a comprehensive solution that ensures privacy, transparency, and accessibility in the daily wage labor market.

  1. Limited Awareness: A significant proportion of daily wage workers remain unaware of available job opportunities due to limited access to information and resources.
  2. Privacy Concerns: Customers are hesitant to share personal information with laborers, hindering effective job matching and communication.
  3. Inconsistent Employment Opportunities: Existing apps often provide a slower avenue for employment, failing to address the urgent need for timely job placements in the daily wage labor marke

Challenges we ran into

Vihaan was a 24hr long hackathon in which we had to present and develop our idea from scartch , during which we faced many challenges:

  1. Limited Deadline: The hackathon had a tight deadline, requiring us to brainstorm, develop, and refine our solution within a short timeframe. This posed a challenge in effectively managing our time and prioritizing tasks to meet the project milestones.
  2. Integration of Frontend and Backend: Integrating the frontend and backend components of our solution was a significant challenge. Coordinating the development of both aspects and ensuring seamless communication between them required careful planning.
  3. Use of Google APIs: Leveraging Google APIs for various functionalities, such as location-based services or authentication, presented its own set of challenges. Understanding the documentation, implementing the APIs effectively, and troubleshooting any issues that arose during development required technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
  4. Data Privacy and Security: Ensuring data privacy and security was paramount in our solution, especially considering the sensitive nature of personal information shared between customers and laborers. Implementing robust security measures and complying with data protection regulations posed challenges in balancing usability with privacy protection.
  5. User Experience Design: Designing an intuitive and user-friendly interface that catered to the needs of both customers and laborers was a challenge. Balancing aesthetics with functionality and ensuring a seamless user experience required iterative design iterations and user testing.
  6. Scalability and Performance: As we developed our solution, we needed to consider its scalability and performance to accommodate potential growth in user base and workload.
