The problem BuildEleven solves

During the lockdown, people started taking interest in cricket matches and betting apps like Dream 11. Everyone used to spend 2-3 hours analyzing and building their dream 11 teams, so we found it somewhat needful to build an app that lets you create your Dream 11 cricket team based on players' past data.
The app consists of 12 different cricket teams and data of more than 250 players. Based on each player's individual points of batting, bowling and overall performance tell you the best playing eleven.
The app gives you four options for the type of match you want between the two teams that are: IPL, ODI, T20, Test. It also gives the freedom to customize the number of batsmen and bowlers in the team following which the rest of the team is automatically selected based on their overall points.

Challenges we ran into

Finding the relevant data for building the app was the biggest challenge for us. Since data was not available on any public data platform, we had to scrape it from the cricbuzz website using web crawling and scripting. The aim to write a single script/code for extracting the data for each player of each team for batting and bowling of IPL, ODI, T20, Test was the most challenging and exciting task.
