The problem Bando Miniapp: spend in Farcaster 🎮👞🛒🛍️ solves

Before Bando Miniapp in Farcaster, spending crypto was fragmented, costly, and required switching between multiple apps, wallets, and offramps. Our project solves this by embedding a fully onchain spending experience directly inside Farcaster. Users can now pay at 800+ top merchants like Amazon, Uber, Airbnb and many more without leaving the app. We eliminate the need for traditional offramps, reduce transaction complexity, and turn crypto into a usable payment method for everyday purchases.

Challenges I ran into

1. Indexing a massive onchain catalog
Before launching the Miniapp, we needed to make our product catalog with over 19,00 items was fully accessible onchain. Our initial brute-force approach involved pre-indexing all products, which resulted in over 19,000 transactions and covered 15.33% of all Base blocks between April 30 and May 2. This method was effective but highly inefficient. To scale, we transitioned to a lazy indexing approach: now, a product is indexed the first time a user interacts with it. This drastically reduced gas costs and enabled faster onboarding of new products.

2. Building an enterprise-grade widget
We built a highly customizable widget that can be embedded anywhere and loads thousands of products in under a second. This required sophisticated front-end and back-end engineering, including advanced caching strategies with a fully modular solution. Achieving this level of performance and configurability with a lean team was a major technical feat.

3. Making Integration Effortless
While integrating with Farcaster was technically fast, that simplicity is the result of making our platform modular, plug-and-play, and compatible with social apps, mobile wallets, and browsers. The challenge was designing Bando to be effortlessly embeddable across many environments. It's built for the onchain economy.
