The problem Valeo solves

During the past few months of this pandemic, the need for businesses to digitalize in order to stay afloat has become extremely evident. Valeo is a simplistic web-tool that encourages small businesses to build their online presence to expand their market reach and accessibility. It visualizes a business's data all in one place, allowing for easier progress tracking. Personalized advice for business growth is curated based on this data, and over time, trends are analyzed within the past weeks to develop a personalized plan for the user to grow their business online. As well, our AI advisor, Valeo, provides immediate tips and resources based on what the user wants to find. Our Valeo database expands to over 50 resources, with an in-depth analysis of the opportunities and fallbacks of each, guaranteeing the user to find the best path for their business. As our world shifts online, the choice to digitize will continue to widen the gap between businesses. Which side do you choose?

Challenges we ran into

With everyone at varying skill levels for the various technologies we used this hackathon, the majority of time was spent asking, debugging, and learning. Thus, we didn’t end up with enough time to implement some of the features we were planning, such as connecting Auth0 to MongoDB, hosting it on the cloud, as well as some other minor formatting issues. There was a lot of troubleshooting to do with the chatbot due to the lack of documentation from Microsoft and third-party sources, causing a back-and-forth between Node.js and C# to build the bot.
