Innov8 - Vortex 360

A cheap and easy to use electric wheelchair that has capabilities to go into standing, sitting and sleeping positions, can move up and down for the patient to easily step on and off the wheelchair.

The problem Innov8 - Vortex 360 solves

Ease of mobility, user friendly with utmost comfort, ease in gaining access to a variety of tasks that can not be performed by a normal wheelchair, ease in getting on and off the wheelchair, traversal of wheelchair over rough terrain and ascending over any staircase of particular step height. The star feature of our product is that it will act as a complete solution to a patient's life and mobility as it can act as a bed and can be converted into standing position which will enable the user to stay at eye level with other people which is also a major booster of self morale for new users. It can move up and down which helps it to attain the same height as other beds so that the user can roll onto the wheelchair. Our design is the compact representation of what a wheelchair can be. With proper dimensions followed according to WHO's rule book on wheelchair construction, this wheelchair will be fabricated with commonly available raw material. All pipes have dimensions in accordance with the standard norm and are constituted of 304-grade Stainless Steel known for its strength and durability. The design is production friendly and can be assembled even by the user with generally available tools.

Challenges we ran into

One of the major challenges was to ensure that there weren't any collisions taking place as the design had to be as compact as possible. This was rectified by strategically placing the actuators with tolerance considerations and material flexing considerations, such that at all extreme and median positions there weren't any collisions.
