The problem Drive AI solves
Numerous vehicle security/alert/assistance features have been developed in the automobile industry, but they often suffer from 2 shortcomings. First, they are not accessible to cars below the mid-range sedans since the cost incurred is high. Second, AI/ML algorithms have not yet been exploited completely for low cost locally made solutions. Based on this thought, we build Drive AI, a web based software solution that provides vehicle assistance and safety with 3 primary features : Drowsiness Detection, Object Detection & Distance Estimation and Mood Based Music Player using Facial Expression Recognition
Challenges we ran into
We faced a lot many challenges while integrating the 3 tasks. It was a also long process implementing the ML based features, but we were able to overcome the bottlenecks by preparing data well and training with optimal algorithms for the same. Using Flask/Angular to combine all 3 features from the backend whilst ensuring that they worked in unison was a major challenge. We aim to build upon the hardware aspect of the solution in future and make it more accessible and user friendly.
