Community-driven dating

The problem ZeroSwipes solves

Dating apps are fundamentally broken!
ZeroSwipes, a blockchain-based solution, addresses significant issues prevalent in the online dating sphere:

  1. Catfishing: The lack of identity verification in current dating platforms leads to fake profiles and catfishing. Users often encounter deceptive profiles, eroding trust in these platforms.
  2. Inactive or Bot Profiles: Many dating apps are plagued with inactive or bot profiles, leading to a frustrating user experience and a decrease in meaningful interactions.
  3. 80/20 principle: One of the biggest killer of dating apps - imbalance between men's typically more eager approach and women's generally more cautious stance. 20% of males get 80% of female matches.
  4. Lack of Personalized Recommendations: Traditional dating apps are designed to bring less matches, the recommendations are entirely based on your looks and existing popularity.

There's a need for aligning expectations and encourage a more balanced interaction dynamic. An effective solution could be to introduce third-party matchmaking, which may help align expectations and encourage a more balanced interaction dynamic.

ZeroSwipes aims to tackle these problems.

  1. Verifies User Identities: Utilizes the Anon Aadhaar protocol for identity verification, ensuring genuine profiles.
  2. Encourages Active Participation: Implements a bounty system where users set preferences and bounties, making profiles visible for recommendations.
  3. Enhances Matchmaking: Leverages weighted recommendations from users to help find suitable matches.
  4. Rewards Contributors: Distributes bounties in a weighted manner to recommenders upon successful matches, incentivizing quality recommendations.

This approach not only makes online dating safer but also more interactive and community-driven.

Challenges we ran into

Understanding anon aadhar and polygon ID, although we decided not to go with polygon ID because the complexity warranted more time. Getting scroll testnet ethers was also bit challenging. Airstack AI assistant would often generate repeated/nested query which made it a little complicated to use. Metamask deeplinking in the mobile app was also tricky. We had to bypass file check in nft-storage sdk to be able to upload images.
