The problem ZEROSHOT AI DEBATE BOT solves

Online discussions today often suffer from a lack of structure, objectivity, and factual grounding. Most debates fail to follow clear formats—such as opening statements, rebuttals, and conclusions—resulting in conversations that are disorganized and emotionally charged. They frequently rely on opinion, bias, or misinformation, with minimal emphasis on evidence-based reasoning. Current AI tools fall short by either offering a single perspective or generating generic, uncritical responses. There’s a growing need—especially in education and public discourse—for tools that foster critical thinking by presenting both sides of an issue in a structured, neutral, and fact-backed manner. This is where the Zero-Shot AI Debate Bot makes a meaningful impact

Challenges we ran into

We faced two challenges primararily the first one was to integrate the openAI and wikipedia api to the project. We were constantly facing errors in response and we overcame it by trying different prompts and parsing techniques to extract the context of the whole topic then we filtered it to get the prompt by the help of which bot will generate points of the debate. The second issue we faced was adding the like and dislike functionality on pressing like the model should suggest a new point based on liked point and on pressing dislike the model will replace the current statement with the new one. We resolved it by building custom endpoints in fastapi server and adding two new prompts for liked statement and disliked statement. Other than this there were some designing issues and text overflowing issues which we overcame by referring to tailwind documentation.
