The problem ZenCue solves
ZenCue is designed to support neurodivergent children—those with learning, attention, or sensory processing differences—by providing a digital companion that simplifies how they consume and interact with information.
🎯 What people can use it for:
- Summarizing long or complex texts, websites, and images into simple, child-friendly explanations (in both text and audio formats)
- Providing a chat and voice assistant to answer queries, explain things, or simply interact with kindness and clarity
- Connecting children with curated neuro-cognitive challenge tests to help track or improve their focus and understanding
- Allowing parents to monitor and assist via a dedicated guide, ensuring that even the youngest users get the help they need
🔐 With blockchain-based subscription using OnchainKit (Base), we ensure safe, tamper-proof access to features without compromising privacy—crucial for young users.
🧠 It makes information simpler, learning more inclusive, and digital interaction safer for neurodivergent kids—all while giving parents peace of mind.
Challenges we ran into
While building ZenCue, we faced several hurdles, especially due to the app's unique focus on neurodivergent children. Here are some key challenges:
- 🧩 Real-time Screen Processing: Initially, we aimed to integrate live screen analysis using Screenpi.pe, but syncing it with child-friendly UX and privacy needs proved technically and ethically complex. We decided to pivot to a browser extension approach for future scaling.
- 🗣️ Voice Input/Output Optimization: Ensuring accurate and fast speech-to-text and text-to-speech for young voices was tricky. We iterated over different formats and APIs before integrating a Groq-based solution that gave us smoother results.
- 🔒 Blockchain Wallet Integration: Using OnchainKit for wallet-based payments brought challenges around simplifying wallet flows for children and parents. We resolved this by creating a dummy-coin (SepholiaETH) system and a clean UI that masks complexity.
- 🧠 Designing for Neurodivergence: Creating UI/UX that’s both engaging and calming for neurodivergent users took multiple redesigns. We actively simplified layouts, added audio features, and limited on-screen clutter.
