YieldNote
A privacy-preserving fixed-term yield marketplace.
The problem YieldNote solves
Yield-bearing stablecoins are powerful primitives, but today they are:
- Unstructured — no standardized term or maturity
- Opaque — NAV updates are public or inconsistently disclosed
- Hard to integrate into institutional workflows
- Missing secondary participation layers (e.g., insurers or structured risk buyers)
This project addresses these gaps by introducing a privacy-preserving fixed-term yield marketplace on Canton Network that allows issuers to structure yield-bearing assets into standardized 3M / 6M / 12M products, with controlled NAV disclosure and third-party bidding.
Instead of holding raw yield-bearing stablecoins, users can access structured, term-based products with clearer cashflow expectations and defined lifecycle states (issue → hold → maturity → redeem), along with optional insurer participation.
Key improvements include:
-
Structured term mapping (3M / 6M / 12M) for predictable fixed-income style exposure
-
Privacy-enabled NAV updates, visible only to relevant counterparties
-
A third-party bidding layer, allowing insurers or liquidity providers to submit offers
-
A composable framework that can evolve into:
- On-chain insurance markets
- Risk tranching mechanisms
- Institutional RWA distribution rails
Overall, it makes yield products:
- More understandable
- More compliant-friendly
- More institution-ready
- Safer through controlled, permissioned data visibility
Challenges I ran into
- Version mismatches between backend (Daml SDK / Canton) and frontend dependencies
- Breaking changes when switching between local sandbox and DevNet environments
- DevNet environment instability that disrupted deployments
How I resolved them:
- Aligned SDK and participant versions explicitly
- Rebuilt DAR packages after dependency upgrades
- Cleaned Docker state and reinitialized validator setup
- Standardized environment variables across local and DevNet configs
This reinforced the importance of environment reproducibility when building institutional-grade infrastructure.
