To revolutionize video accessibility for visually impaired individuals across Africa and build more inclusive digital content platforms.
What challenges are you focusing on?
We're addressing the lack of comprehensive video accessibility tools for the visually impaired. Current solutions often miss crucial visual context, limiting the full video experience.
How does your submission address this challenge?
Our Crystal Auto Caption API provides rich, contextual descriptions of video content, including:
- Detailed scene descriptions (e.g., "A bustling marketplace with colorful fabrics and fresh produce")
- Action recognition (e.g., "Person walking briskly through a crowded street")
- Emotional context (e.g., "Speaker's voice becomes excited as they describe a new discovery")
- Object identification and relationships (e.g., "A small child holding hands with an elderly woman")
Challenges we ran into
Initially, we struggled to synchronize the Livepeer AI with extracted audio WAV files. We overcame this by directly passing the video to our text-to-audio API, which worked

- Multilingual support: Our system can generate captions in multiple African languages, increasing accessibility across diverse communities.
- Customizable detail levels: Users can choose between brief overviews or in-depth descriptions based on their preferences.
- Integration with Index.network: We're developing advanced semantic search capabilities, allowing users to find specific moments within videos based on described content.
