Stablecoin payments are powerful, but for many small merchants they are still too complex. A merchant may need to understand wallets, blockchain networks, token addresses, gas fees, QR codes, and on-chain transactions just to receive a simple payment.

X-Mate simplifies this experience by turning a stablecoin payment into something closer to a traditional QR payment.

A merchant can use natural language, such as:

"Charge Ana $15 for the blue shirt."

The AI agent interprets the request, creates the payment, generates a QR code, and waits for the on-chain confirmation. The customer scans the QR with their non-custodial wallet and signs the transaction directly from their device.

This makes stablecoin payments easier to use while preserving an important property: the user remains in control of their funds and private keys.

X-Mate can be used by small businesses, local merchants, freelancers, and individuals who want to accept or make digital-dollar payments without having to interact directly with complex blockchain interfaces.

Challenges I ran into

One of the biggest challenges was connecting a simple payment experience with the complexity of real on-chain transactions.

The application had to coordinate several steps reliably:

• Creating and managing a non-custodial wallet locally on the device.
• Making sure the private key never leaves the user's device.
• Interacting with the HSK Chain testnet and the test stablecoin.
• Generating QR codes containing the correct payment information.
• Detecting and validating the blockchain transaction after the customer signs the payment.
• Translating a natural-language request from the merchant into a real payment amount and recipient.
• Handling asynchronous blockchain confirmations without making the merchant manually refresh or verify the transaction.

The biggest hurdle was making the blockchain state feel like a normal payment experience. A transaction is not instantly confirmed, so the UI needed to clearly communicate states such as payment requested → QR generated → payment signed → transaction detected → payment confirmed.

We solved this by separating the payment flow into explicit states and using the blockchain as the source of truth for confirmation. Once the transaction is detected and verified on-chain, X-Mate updates the merchant interface and provides a verifiable transaction reference in the HSK explorer.
