Wellfi
It pays to check in
The problem Wellfi solves
WellFi was born from lived experience: 12 years of sobriety and the ongoing frustration of juggling multiple apps to feel okay: one for meditation, another for mood tracking, a separate sobriety counter, and more. There’s no true hub for wellness, no place that’s both gentle and powerful, where people can form healthy habits, track emotional patterns, and feel grounded and rewarded for showing up.
Meanwhile, the global mental health crisis continues to worsen. Suicide rates in the U.S. reached record highs in 2025. Social media often amplifies feelings of inadequacy and disconnection. People need more than passive content; they need structure, care, and a feedback loop that helps them feel better, consistently.
WellFi is that space. It is a daily check-in app that uses tiny, rewarding rituals to build emotional resilience and self-awareness onchain.
It solves for:
Disjointed wellness tooling: WellFi unifies mood logging, micro-practices, reflections, and habit formation in one calming interface.
Lack of motivation: Users grow a personalized wellness plant with every action, building visible, gamified feedback loops tied to real wellness behaviors.
Social media toxicity: Rather than performative feeds, WellFi offers an ambient social layer—leaderboards, future pairing systems, and visual signals that say “I'm taking care of myself.”
Economic opportunity: We democratize access to wellness work by rewarding both users and practitioners through onchain tips, token-based incentives, and premium upsells where creators earn the lion’s share.
From breathwork to reflection prompts, meditation to movement, WellFi helps users “take 5” for themselves and feel good doing it because it pays to check in with yourself and with each other.
Challenges I ran into
Our biggest design challenge was crafting a user flow that felt truly sticky, not just functional. We wanted WellFi to feel like a place users return to daily, not because they’re prompted by stress or pressure, but because it offers a consistent sense of grounding and progress.
We also put significant thought into building a reward system that couldn’t easily be farmed. Rather than defaulting to extrinsic motivators, we focused on a more holistic gamification model, one that encourages positive dopamine loops, not compulsive behavior. The visual garden, gentle streaks, and soft rewards are all part of a system designed to support healthy habits, not hijack attention.
Finally, we had to ensure our content, particularly media-based actions like meditations and movement videos, wouldn’t become storage-heavy or slow to load. We implemented a lightweight content structure that balances quality with performance, keeping the app snappy and scalable.
