Mental health is often neglected when it comes to health issues. But mental illness is a global
problem. More than 300 million people, 4.4% of the world’s population, suffer from depression.
These alarming figures reflect the wider prevalence of mental ill-health more generally. It is
estimated that mental health conditions will affect a staggering one in four people at some time
in their lives.
