The problem ChromMist solves
Conventional humidifiers lack smart, remote, and browser-based control — especially in affordable models. Users must manually switch them or rely on limited mobile apps that don’t integrate well with modern ecosystems.
CHROMIST bridges this gap by enabling mist control through the browser using low-cost hardware and Web Bluetooth, making smart humidity accessible, cross-platform, and fully remote — with no app install required.
Challenges I ran into
Web Bluetooth Compatibility:
HC-05 uses classic Bluetooth, which is unsupported by the Web Bluetooth API — requiring a redesign with ESP32 BLE for browser control.
Hardware Limitations:
With no physical components, I relied entirely on Wokwi simulation and MIT App Inventor to validate the embedded logic and user interaction.
Toolchain Transition:
Moving from AVR-GCC and ATmega to Arduino/ESP32 BLE involved rethinking both firmware and communication flow to suit modern web APIs.
UI-to-Hardware Bridging:
Building a seamless experience between mobile/web interfaces and real-time device control without full hardware access pushed me to simulate and design creatively.
