The problem Web3Brand (A user-centric Web3 media in Chinese) solves

The problem it solves: Help ordinary people understand the practical value of Web3 and enable them to enter the space as consumers and builders.

Web3/Crypto is still early. Most of the current content is either too technical for ordinary people to understand and know how to use, or too hyped up and lacking long-term value. Chris Dixon's description "the computer and casino culture" is quite apt. This also hinders more ordinary people from entering the space.

What does this mean for ordinary people?

As a public goods, Web3Brand hopes to popularize the practical value of Web3/Crypto to ordinary people through in-depth analysis from a user perspective, especially by showcasing the use cases of various applications. This allows users to understand the impact of Web3 and enables more people to enter this space as consumers and builders.

The unique user-oriented content also helps more Web3 projects better communicate user value, business value, and achieve consensus among Web3 core users and tech enthusiasts - these early adopters. By the way, our contents help many projects to find the real use case and adjust their development to reach Product Market Fit.

Established in 2023, Web3Brand has published over 100 articles and produced 22 podcast episodes, delivered to over 30,000 twitter followers and nearly 4,000 dedicated newsletter subscribers (incl. a bunch of famous founders and investors), making it the most trusted and unique content brand in Chinese Space, also becoming the first stop for many well-known projects to receive interviews in the Chinese Space, like Story Protocol, Sign Protocols, Galxe, GM Network, Foresight Ventures, etc.

Challenges I ran into

The biggest challenge is that Web3 projects often start from a technical perspective rather than a user perspective, resulting in most users not understanding what these projects mean to them.

As experienced Internet veterans and Web3 researchers who have fallen down the rabbit hole, we personally experience these Web3 projects and find the most suitable user perspective for analysis and interpretation.

A typical example is the Sign Protocol, a project that aims to use on-chain signatures to improve efficiency and transparency. But what does this mean for users? Starting from the pain points of ourselves and our friends, we found two user scenarios related to "prove": proving that I own a certain album and proving that my daughter is my daughter.

After publishing the article, it resonated with many users. Based on user needs, Sign Protocol further launched proofs.money , which allows users to generate proof of their assets in traditional financial institutions permissionless (Congratulations to them for receiving the 13th wave of 2024 Base Builder Grants).
