Simplifying Web3 and blockchain for Spanish-speaking users in Latin America with AI-powered articles, explained in easy-to-understand language and stored on the blockchain for free access by all

Why are you participating for Based LatAm?

I’m participating in Based LatAm because I’m deeply connected to the region as a Colombian immigrant passionate about using technology to uplift and empower Latin American communities. With Web3 To Human, my goal is to bridge the knowledge gap around Web3 and blockchain for Spanish-speaking users, making complex technologies accessible in their native language. This project is not just about education—it’s about empowering Latin Americans with the tools and knowledge to actively participate in the growing Web3 space. I believe Web3 can open doors for financial inclusion, innovation, and economic empowerment in LATAM, and I want to be part of that transformation.

What challenges are you focusing on?

With Web3 To Human, I'm addressing several key challenges in the Latin American community:

  1. Access to Web3 Knowledge: Many people in Latin America are unfamiliar with Web3 and blockchain due to language barriers and the complexity of the content. The app simplifies these topics in Spanish, making them accessible to non-tech-savvy users.
  2. Financial Inclusion: Web3 technologies offer new financial opportunities, but without proper knowledge, many in the region are left out. By educating users in an easy-to-understand way, we aim to empower them to participate in the Web3 economy, unlocking opportunities in decentralized finance (DeFi), NFTs, and other blockchain innovations.
  3. Digital Literacy: Latin America faces a digital literacy gap, and Web3 To Human helps close this gap by teaching users about cutting-edge technologies that could shape their economic future.

By partnering with Base, I’m leveraging their infrastructure to build a decentralized, accessible platform, storing educational content on the blockchain. This ensures that users from all backgrounds can freely access and share the knowledge, fostering a more inclusive Web3 community in Latin America.

How does your submission address this challenge?

Web3 To Human directly addresses the challenges of knowledge accessibility, financial inclusion, and digital literacy in Latin America by simplifying complex Web3 and blockchain concepts for Spanish-speaking users. The app uses AI to scrape and analyze Web3 articles from user-provided URLs, then translates the content into Spanish with easy-to-understand explanations, key points, and FAQs. The generated articles are stored on the blockchain, ensuring free, permanent access to all users.

Project Description:

  1. Web3 to easy to understand language translation: The app transforms technical Web3 content into simplified articles in Spanish and english using AI. The AI model I'm using would be also capable to translate the content into other languages from emerging markets if needed.
  2. Gas less transactions: Using Coinbase's paymaster capabilities the app allows gas less transactions for Coinbase wallet users.
  3. Blockchain Storage: Articles are stored on the blockchain, making them accessible for free to future users.
  4. Educational Features: Each article contains a title, tags, explanations, key points, and FAQs designed to break down complex topics, and help new users to break into the wonderful web3 world.

Potential Impact:

  1. Democratizing Web3 Education: By making Web3 content accessible to non-tech-savvy Spanish speakers, the app empowers individuals to better understand and engage with blockchain technologies.
  2. Fostering Financial Inclusion: As users learn about DeFi, crypto, and blockchain, they can explore new financial opportunities that were previously inaccessible due to the knowledge barrier.
  3. Building a Knowledge Ecosystem: The app creates a growing library of decentralized educational resources, enabling users across Latin America to continuously access updated content.

Web3 To Human has the potential to bring more Latin Americans into the rapidly growing Web3 space, increasing participation and fostering greater inclusion.

Challenges I ran into

I encountered two main challenges while building Web3 To Human:
Integrating Base's SDKs for the First Time: Since this was my first time working with the Base's SDKs, I initially struggled with managing blockchain transactions and connecting the SDK to the AI flow. Understanding how to seamlessly integrate AI-driven content generation with blockchain storage was a new experience. However, Base provided really complete and well-written documentation, along with sample repositories that were incredibly helpful. In addition, finding the Onchainkit SDK and deciding to use it was the best decision ever, allowing me to implement all the wallet features quickly. The resources from https://onchainkit.xyz/ allowed me to quickly resolve the issues and get everything working smoothly.

Time Constraints: I only learned about the hackathon one week before the deadline. With such a tight timeframe, I had to move quickly and prioritize key features. Despite this challenge, I focused on delivering a functional MVP that could demonstrate the core functionality of scraping and simplifying Web3 articles for Spanish-speaking users in Latin America. The support and resources from the Base ecosystem made it possible to create a working prototype in just a few days.

App Reloading: The first time you open the app, if you connect your wallet using the Coinbase wallet option then when you click "Get Random Explanation" button the apps get reloaded. This is a weird behaviour I didn't have time to fix. For avoiding this issue the first time you open the app simply connect your Coinbase wallet and then follow the "Pay & Get Explanation" flow which is: paste an url in the link field and then click "Pay $0.20 & Get Explanation". After getting the explanation, click "Reset" and from now on the "Get Random Explanation" button will be working properly.

These experiences pushed me to think creatively and adapt quickly, which ultimately helped me complete the project on time.

Additional Features

I used an old AI app repository I created a couple of months ago as the base for this project, but I made several changes in the flow, UI, and AI prompt. In addition, I added wallet and onchain transaction features by implementing wagmi and Onchainkit SDK from scratch.
