Wavpoint is an onchain, front-end client, purpose-built, to showcase heavily curated/rare and tokenized music minimixes.
The problem Wavpoint solves
Traditional music distribution has become very formulaic. Wavpoint is an experiement in new means of onchain music distribution gamification & testing unfinished/unreleased music for resonance.
Minimixes that are minted 7777+ times will unlock limited-run vinyl production/distribution. Those that mint the minimix will be allowlisted to mint the a limited edition vinyl token that can later be claimed for the physical vinyl unit.
Minimixes can be either 10 minutes or 40 minutes in length to adhear to the limitations of 7" and 12" vinyl. Sometimes it is better to have limitations when creating. That said, minimixes are open form. They can be a traditional DJ mix, a hip-hop mixtape, a beat tape, unreleased previews, a stream of conscious motif scratch pad, etc.
Challenges I ran into
The biggest challenge we ran into was continuing to simplify down to an MVP that is fairly self-explantary as far as the user-experience. As with all projects, many more features are planned for the future. Finding the simplest, yet, quickly compelling MVP became more and more important over time.
Additionally, querying a decentrailized blockchain has it's limitations. It has been hard to work entirely from the Zora contract decentralized endpoints and create an application environment with any of the common social interaction features users have grown accustom to using. There are some user elements that are currently hosted on a centralized DB, but the goal is to integration decentralized social into the tech stack soon.
