NFT Wells for Clean Water and Real Impact

The problem Waternity RWA solves

🌍 The Problem It Solves
Billions of people still lack access to clean water due to slow infrastructure development, limited transparency in funding, and inefficient resource allocation. Traditional donations to water charities often lack traceability, while impact investors have no clear way to support real-world water access projects with measurable returns.

Meanwhile, Web3 lacks practical Real World Asset (RWA) use cases that combine social good with sustainable returns.

✅ Waternity Bridges the Gap
Waternity tokenizes clean water infrastructure by turning real-world wells into NFT-backed vaults. Investors can fund these wells, track their output via Chainlink data feeds or simulations, and earn simulated yield based on the water produced. This creates a new category of onchain impact investing that is transparent, automated, and cross-chain compatible.

Challenges I ran into

🔧 Challenges I Ran Into
Simulating real-world yield from water production
Designing a believable and fair model to simulate yield from a well’s water output was non-trivial. We had to balance realism (liters/day) with tokenomics logic (USDC rewards), while ensuring it didn't mislead users. We solved this by combining Chainlink Functions with dynamic parameters that simulate yield based on API-fed water data.

Cross-chain payout simulation using CCIP
Building a multichain payout system was challenging due to chain coordination and messaging delays. We initially struggled with message confirmations across testnets. Eventually, we optimized the flow using Chainlink CCIP mock integrations and fallback handlers to ensure simulated payouts executed reliably.

Clean UX for impact-first DeFi users
We wanted both donors and impact investors to feel at home. Achieving a unified UX that worked for non-crypto users and DeFi natives required multiple iterations, testing both clarity and modularity. User feedback helped us redesign a minimal UI with role-based flows.
