The problem WarungPass solves

**Empowering Small Businesses with "Invisible" Web3 Tech
**
Traditional micro-businesses (Warungs) in Indonesia are losing customers to modern retail chains because they rely on outdated paper stamp cards. These cards are easily lost, hard to track, and frustrating for customers.

WarungPass levels the playing field. It is a digital loyalty platform that allows any small shop owner to launch their own rewards program in one click.

  • For Merchants: No tech skills needed. They just scan a customer's QR code to give points.
  • For Customers: One simple app for all their favorite local shops. No more bulky wallets.
  • Why Lisk? We use the Lisk blockchain to make points transparent and permanent. Unlike centralized apps where points can vanish, WarungPass points are truly owned by the user on-chain, yet the experience feels exactly like a familiar Web2 app.

Challenges I ran into

  1. Making Crypto "Invisible" for Non-Tech Users The biggest challenge was building for users who have never heard of "gas fees" or "private keys." A warung owner cannot deal with complex wallet pop-ups during a busy lunch rush.
  • Solution:We implemented Account Abstraction (Paymasters). The app handles gas fees on the backend. Users simply click "Mint" or "Redeem," and the blockchain magic happens silently in the background.
  1. Ensuring Instant Feedback (The "Kopi" Speed Test) Blockchain transactions take time to confirm, but buying a coffee takes seconds. If the app lags, the merchant won't use it.
  • Solution:We built an Optimistic UI. When a point is scanned, the app updates the balance instantly on the screen while the Lisk smart contract processes the transaction in the background. This creates a snappy, zero-latency experience.
