WalTer: The Ultimate Dev Toolkit with a Power-Packed Database.
The problem WalTer solves
High Learning Curve: Developers will struggle to efficiently use Walrus CLI and HTTP APIs, leading to slower adoption and frustration.
Inefficient Blob Management: Manual upload, download, and management of blobs will be time-consuming, error-prone, and hinder productivity.
Storage is Not Persistent: Walrus storage epochs expire, requiring regular updates to maintain data availability. Without our tools, this process is manual and prone to errors, risking data loss.
Challenges we ran into
Concurrency and Async Programming: Handling asynchronous tasks and shared state safely using tokio and Arc<Mutex<T>>.
Terminal UI Design: Building an intuitive and responsive terminal-based UI with crossterm and ratatui for seamless user interaction.
Database Design: Creating our own always available SQLite database which supports rollbacks from scratch.
