The problem Waffles solves

Most on-chain games are either solitary or luck-based.

You don’t win because you’re clever, fast, or sharp — you win because… you got lucky.

That’s not fun.
Not for long.

So we wanted to fix that.

What if a game wasn’t about luck?

What if it was about something deeper, something everyone...naturally has?

We realized the most universal human skill is pattern recognition.

It’s how you remember faces, moments, scenes — even memes.

Your brain is constantly trying to connect the dots.

That’s what makes Waffles so special.

Waffles is the first tournament-based social game on Base built entirely around pattern recognition.

How does it work:
You buy a ticket — a small buy-in — and join a live tournament.
The screen lights up.

You see an image, maybe a famous movie scene, a viral meme, or a moment in history

but it’s been reimagined with our custom artistic styles.

It’s familiar… but different.
Your brain knows it’s seen it before, it just can’t place it.

Then it clicks.
That’s the magic moment.

You guess the right image, earn points, and move through multiple rounds,
each faster, harder, and more exhilarating.

Every buy-in contributes to the prize pool.
The best players, the ones who see the patterns first, share the rewards.

It’s not random.
It's not luck.
It’s skill.
It’s fair.
And it’s insanely fun.

Waffles is more than a game
It’s going to be the biggest live cinematic tournament built for The Base App

People won’t just play it.
They’ll enjoy the experience.
They’ll talk about it.
And they’ll come back again and again,
because every tournament comes with new content; and every victory feels earned.

This is what social games should feel like.
And it starts here.

The World will waffle

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges we faced while submitting for Base Batches 002 was adapting Waffles for testing.

The game was originally built to be invite-only and played by a large number of users directly on The Base App.

However, for review and testing purposes, we needed to modify the system so that the Base team could access and play it without requiring live invites or full-scale tournaments.

Balancing that limited-access test mode with our core multiplayer design was tricky, but it helped us refine our onboarding flow and make Waffles more flexible for first-time users to use

What is your product’s unique value proposition?

There’s a growing thirst on Farcaster for social games where players aren’t just spectators, they’re part of the core mechanics.

Cody lets users pay to guess the sequence of emojis held by an AI agent.

The Firm turns role-playing into gameplay, rewarding users with points for chatting in

Yapster took this even further. Users voted on daily memes that became tokens, driving $100K+ in deposits and $500K+ in rewards.

Yapster worked because it had no learning curve. Everyone already knows how to recognize a great meme.
That’s the same advantage Waffles builds on.

Waffles is the first social tournament on The Base App where friends compete daily to identify cultural moments faster than everyone else.
It’s familiar, fair, and insanely fun, powered by the universal human instinct of pattern recognition.

What makes Waffles stand out is its fusion of skill, culture, and community. It’s a game that’s fun, competitive, and deeply social.

Our Alpha Build Validates This Value

  • Base integration: real ticket purchases and verifiable prize pools.
  • Live social tournaments: friends compete in real time, sharing results and leaderboards.
  • Consistent replayability: a high number of early testers are returning to play repeatedly, proving that this kind of social gameplay has real stickiness.

No one has yet built a social game that has taken Farcaster and The Base App by storm.
We saw that gap and went all in.

Base App is focused on onboarding millions of users, and social games have proven time and again to drive massive adoption.
Waffles will create the biggest onboarding event The Base App has ever seen, making it the most fun place to be in crypto.

Who is your target customer?

Our ideal users are Farcaster-native users, people who are online most of the time, enjoy using miniapps on The Base App, and love interacting with friends using memes, talk about what they enjoy and so much more.

They’re the same users who already play or engage with existing social games like Cody, The Firm, and Yapster, people who enjoy lightweight, competitive experiences that fit naturally into their daily social routine.

They’re not traditional gamers. They’re the kind of users who watch movies, doomscroll twitter and share content every day. For them, Waffles feels intuitive because it builds on something they already do and turns it into something they can have fun with.

We’ve validated this audience through feedback from our testers who are our target users, where they described Waffles as “one of the most fun games they've played on farcaster”

Who are your closest competitors and how are you different?

A few social games are exploring new ways for people to play and interact on-chain. Some of the closest include:

  • Playmini / Founder Mode: A social guessing game where users try to predict which category people will be talking about most on Twitter(Season 1 ended).

  • Cody: An agentic game where users pay to guess the sequence of emojis held by an AI agent.

  • The Firm: A role-playing social game where users are part of "The Firm" and are assigned roles and earn points for chatting with “employees” in the /the-firm channel.

  • Yapster: A meme-based competition where users vote on the best daily meme, with winners rewarded in tokens(sunsetted, but it was a pretty good game).

Each of these games proved there’s strong appetite for lightweight, social experiences built around participation.

Where Waffles stands out is in its fusion of skill-based games, social culture on Farcaster, and multiplayer tournaments.

  • It’s skill-based, not luck-based, players win by recognizing patterns faster than others.

  • It’s native to Farcaster which allows us to do so many cool things with the social graph.

  • Our prize pools will naturally be higher because 30% of our creator fees will go to the prize pool every week.

Waffles combines the fun of social media with real time social tournanments. NO ONE is doing it the way we're doing it right now.

What is your distribution strategy and why?

Our distribution strategy is community-driven and viral by design.

Waffles will launch directly on The Base App and Farcaster, tapping into an existing network of crypto-native users who already love social, skill-based games. Every tournament is invite-only and inherently shareable, built to spread through friend groups, Farcaster channels, and the social feed on Farcaster and Base App.

Leaderboards, highlights, and bragging rights will naturally drive virality, creating an organic growth loop without heavy paid acquisition.

We’ll further expand distribution through:

  • Sponsored tournaments with Base ecosystem partners

  • Theme-driven challenges (e.g., “Popular Times in History,” “Warplets,” “Movies")

  • Creator collaborations and cross-promotion with other miniapps on Base

Our approach fits perfectly with our audience: crypto-native, socially engaged users who discover new experiences through their friends.

What we plan to achieve with this strategy:

  • 10,000+ users across our miniapp and web game

  • Over $100,000 in cumulative prize pool volume

  • Maintain >30% weekly retention and >50% replay rate

By using the power of the social graph, Waffles can scale through using network effects and organic flywheels, without spending much on marketing
