We're a team of hackathon fanatics based in India and we've faced a lot of heartbreak with Coldplay, Dua Lipa and United Way of Garba recently.
No authentication, overpriced resales, and trust loaded systems are some problems we've faced first-hand that we think Base solves very beautifully by virtue of being a trustless, cheap and user-friendly chain.
The ticket scene in India is pretty messy right now.
We've seen friends get turned away at IPL matches because they bought fake tickets. During big concerts, resale prices go through the roof - we're talking 5-10x the original price sometimes (as happened with ColdPlay). And when someone can't make it to an event, selling their ticket safely is a real pain. These aren't just big city problems. Whether it's a cricket match in Mumbai or a local festival in Pune, ticket hassles are everywhere.
Verifiable payments, SBTs/NFTs, smart contracts solve these issues at their very root. But crypto isn't well-interpreted in the masses and so we want to fix this without making people deal with complicated crypto stuff. We want to abstract away any complexities and benefit buyers and sellers to have a pleasant, simple and rewarding experience on Vox.
Vox keeps things simple.
Each ticket is unique and verifiable.
Price caps at 2x the original price.
Direct buyer-seller deals with no sketchy middlemen.
Buyers can make offers below the asking price, by placing requests for bids.
Money stays safe in escrow until everything checks out.
We've focused on making it super easy and frictionless to use - no crypto knowledge needed. Just buy, sell, and enjoy your events!
As much as NFT ticketing platforms are laughed upon, they solve very specific problems with events and ticketing especially around Indian regions. We do think that this problem can be tackled in a bottom-up approach, targetting regional events to get onchain.
Building all this during Navratri was intense (shoutout to the team who coded through garba nights!), but we managed to pack in all the key features we wanted.
One big hurdle, though, was making the tech user-friendly. Most people don't care about blockchain - they just want their tickets. So we had to figure out how to use Base's strengths without scaring folks off with crypto jargon. And while we acknowledge there's scope for improvement, we believe we've done a decent job.
Vox is the lovechild of Based India alone 😂
We started this during the Buildathon!
Cheering for a project means supporting a project you like with as little as 0.0025 ETH. Right now, you can Cheer using ETH on Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
