The problem VoteSprout solves

In traditional online voting systems, trust, accessibility, and cost are constant concerns:

Lack of Transparency: Users have no way to verify if votes are counted correctly.

High Barriers for Non-Crypto Users: Many governance tools require holding tokens or paying gas fees, discouraging participation.

Fragmented DAO Onboarding: Setting up or joining a DAO can be technical and time-consuming.

VoteSprout solves these challenges by providing:

Gasless Voting: Users can cast votes without paying transaction fees, lowering entry barriers for everyone.

On-Chain Transparency: Every vote is recorded on the Base blockchain, verifiable in real time via BaseScan.

Instant DAO Creation & Access: Create or join a DAO in seconds, with no coding required.

Wallet-Based Access Control: Securely manage participation using familiar wallets like MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet.

With VoteSprout, communities can make collective decisions that are secure, accessible, and verifiable, without sacrificing ease of use.

Challenges I ran into

Challenges Faced & How We Overcame Them
While building VoteSprout, one of the biggest hurdles was balancing visual appeal with performance.
Our early design featured heavy, animated “breathing” effects and high-GPU transitions that looked great on high-end machines but slowed down performance on average devices and mobile browsers.

How we solved it:

Replaced GPU-heavy effects with lighter, CSS-based animations and optimized Framer Motion transitions.

Reduced the number of simultaneous animations on the landing page.

Added efficient rendering logic so animations only run when visible on screen.

Another challenge was handling wallet connection routing:

Initially, connecting a wallet didn’t reliably redirect users back to the correct DAO dashboard.

We implemented network-aware routing, ensuring that after connecting a wallet, users are automatically switched (or prompted to switch) to the Base network before being navigated back to the dashboard.

These adjustments not only improved performance and reliability but also made VoteSprout smooth and accessible across a wider range of devices.

Smart Contract Address(es)

Contracts will be deployed on Base mainnet before final submission. Currently using a local Hardhat/Foundry deployment for testing.

Other Onchain Proof

Onchain activity will be verifiable before the hackathon ends. VoteSprout uses wallet signature–based voting on the Base network, with Paymaster-enabled gasless transactions. All proposals, votes, and DAO creations will be publicly viewable on BaseScan.
