The problem VoteSafe-Confidential DAO Voting solves
Current DAO governance is compromised by a fundamental security flaw: public voting. The
transparency of traditional blockchains allows for voter coercion and vote buying, which
undermines the democratic process and centralizes power. This environment discourages
genuine participation and allows powerful entities to manipulate outcomes, eroding trust and the
very purpose of decentralization.
1.2. Problem Solution
Our solution is a Decentralized and Private Voting System built on the Oasis Network. We
leverage the confidential computing of Oasis Sapphire to encrypt individual votes on-chain. This
ensures that a voter’s choice is completely private, visible only to the individual and the secure
environment of the smart contract. The system securely tallies the votes and reveals only the
final, aggregate result, guaranteeing fair and equitable governance.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge was integrating confidential smart contracts on the Oasis Sapphire network. Unlike traditional Solidity development, deploying contracts with privacy features required understanding how to work within a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) and ensure data encryption end-to-end.
We overcome it by learning in dept Oasis documetation and collaborating closely as a team to split responsibilities between smart contract logic, frontend integration, and vote encryption workflows.
