The problem Voice Up solves
The VoiceUp portal is a web platform that aims to address the pervasive issue of sexual harassment in the workplace. Studies have shown that between 25% and 85% of women experience some form of sexual harassment in the workplace, with 75% of incidents going unreported. This indicates a clear need for a safe and confidential space where women can report incidents of sexual harassment without fear of retaliation.
The VoiceUp portal provides this space by allowing women to report incidents of sexual harassment anonymously. It is designed to be user-friendly and accessible to anyone who needs it. The platform provides clear guidelines and policies on what constitutes sexual harassment, ensuring that reports are accurate and that false accusations are minimized.
In addition to reporting incidents, the portal also offers resources and support to women who have experienced sexual harassment. These resources include legal advice, counseling services, and links to relevant organizations.
The front-end architecture of the portal is designed to be simple and easy to use. Users will then be directed to the reporting page, where they will be prompted to enter details about the incident they wish to report. The reporting page will be designed with clear and concise fields to ensure that all necessary information is collected.
The back-end architecture of the portal uses Dialogflow, a natural language processing platform, to process the reports and provide a quick response to the user. Dialogflow allows the portal to understand the context and intent of the user's report, enabling it to respond with appropriate resources and support.
The VoiceUp portal is a powerful tool in the fight against sexual harassment in the workplace. By providing a safe and confidential space for women to report incidents of sexual harassment, it aims to empower women and create a more equitable and respectful workplace for all.
Challenges we ran into
Privacy concerns: As we are dealing with sensitive data, we need to ensure the privacy of users and their data. We may need to comply with data protection regulations and ensure that all personal data is encrypted and stored securely.
Accuracy of reporting: False reporting can undermine the integrity of the platform. It's essential to ensure that we have the right mechanisms in place to validate reports and investigate any allegations.
Integration with Dialogflow: Implementing Dialogflow correctly can be challenging, especially when designing conversation flows and training the chatbot to handle complex scenarios. We may need to experiment with different intents and entities to ensure that users can communicate effectively with the chatbot.
User adoption: Encouraging users to report incidents of sexual harassment can be challenging. We may need to create a user-friendly interface that is easy to use and accessible to everyone.
Technical challenges: Developing a web portal can be complex, and we may encounter technical challenges related to scalability, load time, user experience, and functionality.
