Vital Connect is a blood bank locator that helps users quickly find and access available blood across India through a streamlined, location-based search.

The problem VITAL CONNECT solves

Vital Connect is a web platform that empowers people across India to easily find nearby blood banks and check the availability of specific blood types. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between people in urgent need of blood and blood banks that have available stock, ensuring faster, safer, and more efficient access to life-saving resources.

Challenges we ran into

One of our main challenges was gathering reliable data for government-run blood banks. We used the data.gov.in API, but it was tougher than expected. The data was massive and often disorganized, making it tricky to structure it well for our MongoDB database. To solve this, we carefully reviewed the API documentation, selecting only the most relevant data. Using the MongoDB Node.js driver, we then wrote scripts to automate data collection and ensure consistency. We also used Postman to test our API requests and verify that everything was working smoothly.
