Why are you participating for Based LatAm?
I am participating in Based LatAm because I am deeply passionate about building impactful projects on Base and contributing to the growth of the onchain ecosystem. The potential of decentralized platforms and blockchain technology is immense, and I believe that Base offers the ideal environment to foster innovation and create solutions that empower individuals and communities.
Through Patron, my goal is to help creators, artists, and communities embrace onchain opportunities by providing them with tools that enable direct engagement with their supporters. I believe that by making it easier for people to come onchain and engage with decentralized systems, we can significantly enhance transparency, ownership, and empowerment for all participants.
By participating in Based LatAm, I hope to not only bring my project to life but also inspire others to explore the possibilities of web3. It’s about helping individuals understand that they can take ownership of their digital interactions, build meaningful communities, and create lasting impact without relying on centralized platforms.
Furthermore, I am excited to collaborate with other innovators, developers, and visionaries within the Base and LatAm ecosystem. I see this as an opportunity to contribute to a vibrant community that shares a common goal of bringing more people onchain and driving the success of decentralized solutions. By participating in Based LatAm, I aim to build a successful project that aligns with Base's vision of decentralized growth and positively impacts the broader web3 space.
What challenges are you focusing on?
Patron addresses the challenge of decentralizing community support by providing a transparent, onchain system for creators and organizations to receive $VISION patrons. Traditional platforms often impose high fees, limited reach, or centralized control, making it harder for small creators to thrive.
With the help of Base, Vision Patron ensures that all transactions are securely recorded onchain, providing transparency and trust. It empowers creators to engage with patrons directly, while patrons gain verifiable ownership through NFTs and access to exclusive community content. This removes intermediaries and fosters a stronger, more supportive ecosystem.
The system also seeks to bring practical applications to NFTs and help community builders build their Intellectual Property. Transforming social interactions not only into rewards, but also into social proof where users themselves can downvote irrelevant content and directly impact the reputation of other users and the visibility of posts delivered by the community. In this way, delivering transparent, clean and social-proof content to community owners, in addition to benefits for users and communities.
How does your submission address this challenge?
Patron directly addresses the challenge of decentralized support by providing an onchain platform that allows users to create communities and receive $VISION donations without intermediaries. By utilizing Base, the platform ensures that every transaction is securely recorded onchain, offering full transparency and accountability.
Through Patron, creators, artists, crownfunding and builders can directly engage with their supporters, setting their own terms for access and benefits, such as exclusive content and announcements. Patrons, in return, receive NFTs to verify their contributions, creating a sense of ownership and appreciation for their support and using those NFTs in the system to earns rewards and play mini-games.
This approach reduces the reliance on centralized platforms that often charge high fees and control access. It empowers creators to sustain their communities while maintaining ownership of their content and donations. For patrons, Vision Patron fosters a stronger, more personal connection to the communities they support, promoting the growth of decentralized ecosystems across the web3 space.
The potential impact includes a more inclusive environment where creators of all sizes can thrive, thanks to the open, transparent, and accessible nature of Patron.
Challenges I ran into
One of the significant challenges I encountered while developing Patron was ensuring that the platform could run smoothly and scale as more users joined. To achieve this, I realized that additional funds were required not only for ongoing development but also to attract more marketing attention. Bringing visibility to the project and encouraging people to create their own onchain communities is vital for Vision Patron’s growth. Without proper funding, it would be difficult to sustain marketing efforts, promote the platform effectively, and onboard new users into the ecosystem.
On the technical side, the project originally used SDK v4 from Thirdweb, which worked well in the early stages. However, as the project grew and I aimed to integrate more advanced features with the Onchain Kit, I encountered package incompatibility errors. This was a major hurdle because it limited the platform's ability to scale and integrate new functionalities smoothly.
To address this, I started the process of migrating the entire project from SDK v4 to SDK v5. This migration is critical because SDK v5 offers better compatibility with the Onchain Kit, enabling smoother integration of new features, improved performance, and better scalability. The migration process has been challenging, as it requires a thorough review of the existing codebase and adjustments to align with the new SDK’s functionality. However, this shift will ultimately ensure that Vision Patron runs smoothly and is able to support a wider range of features from the Onchain Kit without encountering compatibility issues.
By overcoming these challenges—both financial and technical—I am ensuring that Patron remains robust and flexible enough to grow, attract more users, and continuously integrate the latest advancements in onchain technology.
Additional Features
Before the buildathon, the only feature in the initial phase and under testing was the transfer system.
Everything else was done during the buildathon, including:
- Remodeling of the business system to be a social media system,
- Development of the Reputation and Energy system,
- The entire NFT, lottery and luck system;
- Social Media including community and publication management, as well as timeline and functions such as commenting, liking, etc.;
- Improvement of libraries such as updating the thirdwrb from sdk4 to sdk5 and the entire system to receive the Onchain Kit such as Swap, Smart Wallets, Basenames, etc.;
- Complete remodeling of the system visually for viewing on mobile and PWA;
- Basename, Smart Wallet and Social Wallets integrations
- Completly remodeling of the Patron system;
In the short and medium term, the roadmap includes more improvements and new features, such as, but not limited to:
- More tools for community owners to manage their communities and keep their communities engaged, such as airdrops of tokens or NFTs for patrons; mints on Zora, etc.;
- Greater integration with panels on Warpcast;
- Development of a new mini-game mode where patrons can use their NFT Shards that have not won any lottery prizes to play automated matches against other Patrons to gain energy, reputation, and tokens. This mini-game mode will use a simplified version of TCG (Trading Card Games) as its development base, where NFTs will gain attributes such as attack, defense, and special effects;
- Release of the API for any developer to create a key and consult and interact with the backend;
- Bug fixes;
- Development of a native version for smartphones;
- Integration of new tokens or new forms of partnerships to integrate the tool with other dApps developed on Base or tokens and NFTs
- Also include the Onchain Score as a luck factor in lotteries
