The problem Virtual Desk solves
So due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation, there is a need for a virtual kind of remote workplace for all the kind of business. It would be a kind of online business management portal for all different kinds of businesses from small to left.
This will help businesses to make a hierarchy structure of there businesses and also it will help them maintain their employees. It will help the business owner to assign tasks and also maintain their attendance.
Also, the dashboard feature will give the business owner performance analytics of various departments and it will also help to maintain the managers to maintain other employees. There will be support for audio/video conferencing which will be in form groups.
Also, there is a feature for chatrooms with the help of which all the employees, managers, and owners can communicate with each other. This will result in one platform for all the solutions. As a basic requirement for any business, this portal will provide security to the business. So the major feature is providing data security.
Also as all the connection is on the single portal there will be less distraction and in this way employees can be more efficient. This profile will also give monthly performance detail for the employee and that way business owner will know how efficient the organization is working.
Challenges we ran into
As 50% of the team is new it was a kind of slow initial slope for the project to go on. And not all of us were knowing git so the major time went on in resolving git conflicts and git revert. Also, we started working with Django and it was also a new experience for all of us.
We found our solution from mentors and our most popular help was from StackOverflow.
Another area where we struggled was planning the flow structure of how the entire project will work. Starting from designing the web portal to managing individual features will go. To make the dashboard as flexible such that it can be used for all the different kinds of businesses from large to small.
Also, not only the designing but implementing the same design and we are using SQL-lite and firebase so the integration, in that case, is also a major concern. Due to all these cases and as we were at different places there were times when we can to call for hours and that was a fun part to in one way.
We really enjoyed the process and this was one of the most memorable hackathons for us. Also, the project is not yet complete but the start for us is awesome and we will be continuing it as it can make a great difference in India.
