The problem Vibration Energy Harvester solves

Conventional methods of producing electricity come with plenty of disadvantages like high maintenance cost, high transmission losses, exhaustible issues. We aim to build a product to bring forth a cleaner and more efficient source of energy so as to vitalize growth and help the environment. We proceed by converting mechanical strain due to vibrations to an alternating form of energy and thus amplifying it and storing it in the battery for later use. We execute it with the concept of piezoelectricity. This project widely opens to numerous applications like power sheets beneath railway lines, industrial machines like generators, etc to pass vibrations; shock-detection devices and detection of fluctuating tides in coastal areas. A major advantage is building a user-friendly application to ease communication for differently-abled people such as blind. This project would be a major breakthrough in the energy market with its high power generation to power consumption ratio.

Challenges we ran into

Faced a major challenge while circuiting the piezoelectric plates and getting them stacked in a square-shaped formation. Faced another challenge while passing vibrations through the piezoelectric plates, due to increased vibrational losses, it became difficult to obtain continuous vibrations and thus persistence output. The team overcame this issue by orienting the set up in such a way that the surface area of contact between the piezoelectric plates and the source of vibrations is increased.
