Challenges we ran into

🚧 Challenges & Hurdles Faced During Development

MCP Server Type Validation Errors

Problem: The MCP server was sending invalid enum values (

) that didn't match the backend's strict validation schema.

Solution: Implemented intelligent type mapping in the MCP server to automatically convert invalid types to valid ones:

Smart Contract Deployment Issues

Problem: Foundry and Hardhat compatibility conflicts when trying to deploy the AICT token contract.

Solution: Standardized on Foundry for deployment and created a comprehensive deployment script that handles all initialization automatically.

Chrome Extension Content Script Communication

Problem: Background script and content script communication was failing intermittently, causing context capture to fail silently.

Solution: Implemented robust error handling and fallback mechanisms, plus added comprehensive logging to track message flow between extension components.

Backend API Rate Limiting

Problem: AI analysis endpoints were hitting rate limits during high-volume context processing.

Solution: Implemented intelligent queuing system and exponential backoff retry logic for failed AI API calls.

MongoDB Connection Pooling

Problem: Database connections were timing out during peak usage, causing context creation to fail.

Solution: Optimized connection pooling configuration and added connection health checks with automatic reconnection logic.

Frontend State Management Complexity

Problem: Managing complex state across multiple AI contexts, projects, and real-time updates was causing UI inconsistencies.

Solution: Implemented React Query for server state management and Zustand for local state, creating a clear separation of concerns.

Cross-Platform AI Tool Detection

Problem: Chrome extension couldn't reliably detect which AI platform was active (ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor).

Solution: Created a robust URL pattern matching system with fallback detection methods and platform-specific content extraction logic.

Token Purchase Flow Integration

Problem: Web3 wallet integration was failing on certain browsers and wallet combinations.

Solution: Implemented multiple wallet providers (RainbowKit, WalletConnect) with comprehensive error handling and user-friendly fallback options.

Authentication & User Management

Problem: Simple header-based authentication was insecure and didn't scale for production use.

Solution: Implemented JWT-based authentication with refresh tokens and proper session management, plus added rate limiting and security headers.

Performance Optimization

Problem: Dashboard was slow with large numbers of contexts and real-time updates.

Solution: Implemented virtual scrolling, pagination, and lazy loading for contexts, plus optimized database queries with proper indexing.

Cross-Browser Compatibility

Problem: Chrome extension features weren't working consistently across different browsers and versions.

Solution: Added comprehensive browser detection and feature polyfills, plus created browser-specific code paths for critical functionality.
