Problem Statement

Globally, the World Health Organization estimates that around 285 million people are visually impaired, of which 39 million are blind and 246 million have low vision.
People with visual impairments face a wide range of problems in their daily lives due to their limited or lack of vision. The most significant problem faced by visually impaired individuals includes reading printed materials, recognizing faces, navigating in unfamiliar places, Unpredicted mishaps ,and accessing online content that relies heavily on visual elements, such as images and videos.
The lack of accessibility to information and services that are designed with sighted individuals in mind can significantly limit the independence, opportunities, and quality of life of people with visual impairments. Therefore, it is crucial to develop solutions and technologies that can enhance accessibility and inclusivity for this population.

V Netra

V Netra is a voice enabled mobile application designed specifically for individuals with visual impairments. it includes features that are accessible through Hindi and English audio input and output.

This app includes a range of features such as facial recognition, Danger alerts, Object Detection , Distance Measurement,Surroundng Description , Location & GPS, OCR for multilingual reading, Event Reminders, and Entertainment. elements like songs, audio books , and many more

The V Netra app aims to provide individuals with visual impairments with more independence and accessibility, ultimately enhancing their overall quality of life.

Challenges we ran into

Deploying large pre-trained DL models to Flutter Application was a bit challenging task, hence we used tf-lite to solve this problem
Making the Application completely Voice enabled for both Hindi and English was a very challenging task
We wanted to make our Application complete, so we researched a lot and tried to bring the most useful Features.
