The problem UniRide solves

Recognizing that many students don't have personal vehicles and heavily rely on public transportation, we understand the challenges they face in navigating through the city. UniRide is born out of a genuine desire to ease the commuting struggles that students encounter, providing a solution tailored to the specific needs of this vibrant and dynamic community. UniRide is driven by the shared experiences of students who have known the challenges of relying on public transportation – and now, we're here to make those experiences smoother, more enjoyable, and, above all, stress-free.

UniRide is a user-centric application designed to optimize commuting experiences through efficient integration with public transportation systems. Leveraging geospatial data and real-time transit information, the app provides users with instant access to the nearest public transportation options, streamlining route planning and ensuring timely arrivals. UniRide's technical architecture is built to enhance the user's journey by delivering accurate and dynamic transportation information, making it a reliable and tech-savvy solution for stress-free commuting.

Challenges we ran into

We faced challenges in API integration, particularly with Google Directions and Places APIs, due to their intricate nature. Compounded by the team's limited experience in Flutter and the scarcity of comprehensive documentation, navigating and troubleshooting integration issues proved demanding. One of the two members are first time hackathon participants so it was a little challenging for us to complete the project in a short span.
