UCoin
UCoin: Reward your learning with blockchain
The problem UCoin solves
UCoin emerges as an innovative solution to the lack of concrete incentives within university classrooms. Often, the daily effort of students is not directly reflected in traditional grading systems. This system introduces a merit-based and transparent way to reward such commitment, allowing teachers to recognize behaviors like active participation, timely submissions, or teamwork. By translating these merits into tangible benefits—such as bonus grade points, access to study guides, tutoring, or campus store items—UCoin creates additional motivation and strengthens the connection between effort and reward. It also encourages student autonomy, as each student decides how to spend their coins based on their academic needs, promoting a more personalized learning experience.
Challenges I ran into
One of the main challenges was the team's limited experience in programming. This pushed us to explore alternative tools that would allow us to bring our vision to life without writing extensive code. We learned to use automatic interface generation platforms, which required multiple iterations to achieve a coherent and functional user experience. Designing logical flows for different roles—teachers, students, and the university's administrative team—without a strong technical foundation was particularly challenging. Additionally, we had to simulate key system behaviors, such as coin assignments and redemptions, without a real database, which demanded creativity and a clear understanding of the operational model. Artificial intelligence played a key role in guiding us through the construction of this MVP, helping us overcome technical barriers and stay focused on solving a real problem within the university community.
