Reputation-powered credit for Web3 builders.
The problem TrustFi solves
The Problem
Access to credit today depends heavily on traditional financial data such as:
credit scores
bank statements
salary history
collateral
These systems were designed for people with stable employment and long financial histories.
But millions of capable people don’t fit that model.
Who Gets Excluded
Many individuals who are productive and trustworthy still cannot access loans:
students
freelancers
developers
open-source contributors
startup founders
gig economy workers
They may have skills, achievements, and strong reputations, but traditional financial systems cannot measure those signals.
So from the perspective of banks, they are considered “uncreditworthy.”
Why Traditional Credit Systems Fail
Current credit systems measure past financial activity, not real-world contributions.
For example:
A developer might have:
participated in hackathons
contributed to open source
built successful projects
But none of this improves their credit score.
This means valuable reputation data is ignored.
The Result - The consequence is a major gap in financial access:
Challenges we ran into
Challenges We Faced While Building TrustFi
- Verifying the Authenticity of Experiences
One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that users cannot easily fake experiences to improve their trust score.
Since TrustFi relies on reputation signals like hackathons or project contributions, we had to design mechanisms to prevent abuse.
The difficulty was balancing:
strong verification
fast implementation for a hackathon demo
Our approach was to introduce the idea of issuer-minted credentials, where organizations issue experience credentials directly to user wallets instead of users claiming them themselves.
For the demo, we simplified this flow but designed the architecture so it can support verifiable credentials in the future.
- Designing a Fair Trust Score
Another challenge was deciding how reputation should translate into creditworthiness.
A trust score based purely on self-reported experiences would be easy to manipulate, while a system relying only on strict verification could limit usability.
We experimented with combining signals such as:
verified experiences
AI credibility analysis
loan repayment history
community endorsements
This hybrid model allows TrustFi to better estimate credibility while still being flexible.
- Integrating Blockchain With the Frontend
Connecting the user interface to smart contracts was another challenge.
Users interact with the system through wallet-based authentication, which required integrating MetaMask and handling blockchain transactions directly in the browser.
Managing asynchronous transactions, confirmations, and error handling while keeping the UI responsive required careful design.
- Choosing the Right Blockchain Network
Deploying on Polygon testnet required configuring development tools, wallets, and RPC endpoints correctly.
We chose Polygon because it offers:
low transaction fees
fast confirmations
compatibility with the Ethereum ecosystem
However, setting up the development environment and ensuring contracts deployed correctly across tools required some troubleshooting.
- Balancing Scope With Hackathon Time Constraints
TrustFi combines several complex systems:
decentralized identity
reputation scoring
micro-lending
AI analysis
Building all of these in a short hackathon timeframe required prioritizing a minimal working demo.

Cheer Project
Cheering for a project means supporting a project you like with as little as 0.0025 ETH. Right now, you can Cheer using ETH on Arbitrum, Optimism and Base.
