We are participating for Based Africa because we believe in the transformative power of Web3 technology and its potential to create educational and gaming experiences that are decentralized, secure, and accessible. By building an on-chain reward based game, we aim to showcase how Web3 can revolutionize interactive learning, making it more engaging, rewarding, and transparent for users in Africa and beyond.
Our connection to the region is rooted in our passion for empowering African communities through technology. Africa is a continent full of young, creative minds and entrepreneurial spirit, and we see Web3 as a way to unlock new opportunities for education and skill development. By merging gaming, education, and blockchain, we’re not only building a product but contributing to the growth of a vibrant digital economy in Africa. Traditional quiz and learning platforms like Kahoot make learning engaging, but they lack real incentives for users beyond the enjoyment of the game. Additionally, these platforms are limited in their ability to create meaningful value for participants, especially in community or event settings where stakes could be higher. There is no direct way for players to earn rewards or monetize their skills and knowledge through participation. Furthermore, existing platforms often rely on centralized payment systems, which can be slow and may not be accessible in all regions.

Our submission combines the gamification elements of traditional platforms like Kahoot with the benefits of blockchain technology. We are developing an on-chain trivia game where users can not only play for fun but also earn rewards in cryptocurrency. The platform allows hosts to stake a specific amount of crypto before participating in quizzes or events. The winner of each quiz earns the staked amount from the host, which is instantly transferred to their wallet through our smart contract once the game concludes.
By using blockchain, our platform ensures secure, transparent, and instantaneous transactions, making it accessible globally without the limitations of traditional payment systems. Additionally, the decentralized nature of our platform means users have control over their rewards and can track their earnings on-chain, offering a sense of ownership and accountability.

Deciding on Features to Include:
One of the primary challenges was determining which features to prioritize given the limited time frame of the buildathon. We needed to balance innovative elements with practical functionality to ensure a working prototype by the deadline.
Solution: We conducted a quick brainstorming session to identify must-have features that align with our project’s core objectives. We focused on essential functionalities like staking, real-time rewards, free game mode and user engagement mechanics, allowing us to create a solid foundation while leaving room for future enhancements.

Choosing the Right Cryptocurrency for Rewards
We faced a dilemma in deciding whether to implement rewards on Ethereum or another cryptocurrency on the Base blockchain, considering potential gas fees and user accessibility. This decision would significantly impact user experience and overall satisfaction.
Solution: After evaluating various options, we chose to utilize the Base blockchain due to its lower transaction fees and faster processing times. This choice ensured that users could enjoy a frictionless experience when receiving their rewards without being deterred by high costs associated with Ethereum gas fees.

Creating a User-Friendly Platform
Making the platform intuitive for Web2 users while maintaining the complex functionalities of Web3 was a challenge. We needed to design an onboarding process that wouldn’t overwhelm users unfamiliar with blockchain technology.
Solution: We focused on a clean, minimalistic design and incorporated tooltips and guided tutorials to enhance user understanding. This approach helped streamline the onboarding process, making it more accessible and inviting for users of all backgrounds.

These challenges ultimately shaped our project into a more thoughtful and user-centric application, positioning us for success beyond the buildathon.
