The problem TripSync solves
TripSync solves the common problem of disorganized group travel planning and coordination. Often, friends, families, or travel groups struggle to align on destinations, dates, interests, and budgets, leading to confusion, missed opportunities, and last-minute stress. TripSync centralizes all trip details in one platform—allowing users to create trips, invite members, manage group preferences, chat in real-time, and even generate AI-powered itineraries tailored to the group’s interests. By syncing everyone’s plans and communication, it ensures smooth collaboration, minimizes misunderstandings, and makes group travel planning efficient, enjoyable, and stress-free. Essentially, TripSync transforms chaotic group trips into seamless shared adventures.
Challenges we ran into
During the development of TripSync, several challenges arose that tested both the technical and design aspects of the project. One major challenge was real-time group communication, ensuring that messages between trip members were delivered reliably and updated instantly without performance issues. Integrating AI-generated itineraries was also tricky, as it required handling user inputs, interests, and trip details accurately while keeping the generation process efficient. Another challenge was managing user authentication and profile data securely using Clerk, particularly when linking profile images and personal information with trips. Additionally, designing a responsive, intuitive, and visually appealing interface that could handle multiple features—like trip creation, member management, messaging, and itinerary viewing—was time-consuming. Handling file uploads for profile images and ensuring cross-browser compatibility were further hurdles. Overall, balancing functionality, performance, and user experience demanded careful planning and iterative problem-solving.
