The problem TripLedger solves
Managing shared expenses during group trips often leads to confusion, disputes, and unequal settlements.
Existing tools struggle with multi-currency transactions, complex cost-sharing (different payers/beneficiaries), and lack transparency in how settlements are calculated.
As a result:

Manual expense tracking causes calculation errors and delays.
Lack of transparency in who paid and who owes whom.
Multi-currency transactions create complexity during international trips.
Existing apps don’t handle flexible cost sharing or multiple payers well.
No clear settlement reports, making reconciliation difficult.
Limited awareness of local payment methods and transaction costs.
Challenges we ran into
During the development process, I faced several technical and design challenges. Managing multiple currencies and ensuring accurate conversions was complex, especially when users contributed unevenly. Designing a flexible cost-sharing logic that could handle multiple payers and different beneficiaries required careful backend structuring. Maintaining transparency while protecting user data privacy also posed difficulties. Additionally, creating a user-friendly interface that could present complex calculations in a simple and intuitive way was challenging.
